Dr. Keri Sweeten was one of the first surgeons in the Valley to perform the Novasure Endometrial Ablation and Posterior IVS vaginal suspension. She coined the phrase “Stop the Flow” to educate women in her community about quality of life procedures for menstrual bleeding and urinary leakage and has also pioneered techniques in aesthetic vaginal surgeries that are both functional and cosmetic in nature. Dr. Sweeten received her Bachelors Degree from Baylor University with Honors and obtained her medical degree from the University Of Texas Health Science Center in May 1991. She then completed her OB/GYN residency at University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Her focus in those early years was laparoscopic procedures and advanced pelvic surgery. As a gynecologist she has extensive experience with the use of Lasers for a variety of surgical procedures. 

Dr. Sweeten has held academic positions at the University of Arizona. She is published and a presenter of various lectures on the use of innovative technologies in medicine. Dr. Sweeten has actively pursued postgraduate training in minimally invasive gynecologic, urologic, and cosmetic procedures to provide the latest technology in her center. In 2004 she founded Understanding Women and Kerisma Centre for Medical Aesthetics to concentrate on procedures that improve quality of life and self esteem including benign urogynecology, reconstructive and aesthetic pelvic surgery and advanced skin care procedures.

She is a national expert in Essure permanent birth control, and Stop the Flow™ Endometrial Ablations and is affectionately known as the Stop the Flow queen. In addition, she routinely performs advanced procedures such as Aussie Makeover, the most private makeover for Down Under™, Pelvic Reconstruction, and Stop the Flow Incontinence Control. In 2005 she advanced her training in body contouring by mentoring with the renowned “Father of Tumescent Liposuction”, Dr Jeffrey Klein, and incorporated liposuction into her cosmetic practice.

She also combines the major cosmetic breakthroughs of science and medicine with the vision of art, creativity and skill to bring you the ultimate in Body Rejuvenation in a Medical Spa environment. She is currently medical director and owner of Understanding Women, Kerisma Centre for Medical Aesthetics, Kerisma and director of Aesthetic Laser Institute, a training center for cosmetic and laser training. She artfully blends scientifically proven rejuvenation procedures utilizing the latest laser/light based technologies with spa therapies to give you the ultimate experience. Waiting for the most cutting edge laser lipolysis technology to be developed to augment body contouring, Dr. Sweeten was an early adopter of the SLIMLipo Laser.

This laser is the first revolutionary ADVANCEMENT in liposculpting in 20 years. This laser device selectively targets fat molecules without destroying surrounding tissue and then that same laser fiber creates results of smooth tighter skin which has always been the problem with traditional liposuction.
