Why Choose a Cosmetic Filler?

Have you ever wanted to lose those wrinkles extending from the sides of your nose towards the corners of your mouth? Join the crowd. That's the most common crease formed on the face.

Over time skin begins to lose volume and structure and lines and wrinkles begin to appear. There are many options now available to improve the appearance of your skin. For deeper wrinkles, injectable cosmetic fillers offer the best and most immediate improvement. The procedure is simple and can be done during your lunch hour.

What Types of Cosmetic Fillers Are Available?

Dr. Sweeten offers the most advanced treatments using Radiesse, Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm. Kerisma Centre for Medical Aesthetics' specialist will help you determine which filler is right for you.

Which Facial Areas Respond Best to Treatment?

Fillers work exceptionally well on wrinkles around the mouth, worry lines in the forehead, deep crows feet around the eyes, and depressed facial or acne scars.  Fillers can also be used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures for those seeking the ultimate in facial rejuvenation.

How Are Treatments Performed?

The injections are an in-office procedure taking less than 30 minutes of your time. During treatment, a tiny needle is used to inject the filler beneath the wrinkle or depression, into your own collagen base. With a small amount of lidocaine patients generally experience minimal discomfort.

What Can I Expect Following the Treatment?

Normal activities can be resumed immediately following the treatment. Mild swelling at the treatment site may last for a few hours and you might experience some slight bruising which can generally be covered with make-up.

The results from a Cosmetic Filler are temporary and can easily be repeated. The newer generations of fillers used at Kerisma last anywhere from 4 months to a year.

Before and After Photos
Restylane . . .

Restylane is a filler that replaces hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body, resulting in a natural dissipation over a period of time. Restylane can be injected into such areas as the lips, around the mouth, forehead, and smile lines.

There is an immediate result in enhancement of the area injected reducing the appearance of lines. Restylane is injected into the body with a small sterile needle and can last can last up to 18 months, naturally dissipating into the body.

The FDA has approved Restylane based on the 18-month duration data.

Perlane . . .

Perlane® is an injectable cosmetic dermal filler that has been used to soften wrinkles and facial folds of patients across the world. It is also a popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions, and facial scarring. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® supplements the body’s natural supply, which becomes depleted with age. Perlane® is biodegradable so its effects are not permanent but the results of a Perlane® filler treatment tend to last six months to a year.

Perlane vs. Restylane . . .

These two injectable fillers are very similar. Perlane has a larger concentration of hyaluronic acid than Restylane, which makes it more effective for deeper wrinkles and larger facial folds.

Juvederm . . .

JUVÉDERM™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid–a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare professional eases JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel–so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! In fact, studies show superior results of JUVÉDERM™ compared to a collagen–based dermal filler. In studies prior to the product launch, participants treated with both JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel and another dermal filler preferred JUVÉDERM™! Since we began offering this product, our patients are seeing great, long–lasting results. In addition, JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel is the first FDA–approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color.
